It's interesting that this show received ratings from 1-5 from critics - people either utterly loved it or hated it (I watched Mickey Jo Theatre's critics round up on youtube) but pretty much every one named Jake Dupree's performance as a highlight, which does make one think that maybe more of the real deal would have elevated the show.

Mr. Blaze surprised me with a trip to London with a stay at the Savoy for my birthday and we were both surprised to arrive on the day of the 'Pink Carpet premier! We opted to see the show on Thursday night (better seats and time to recover from our flight) and are both happy to say that we enjoyed ourselves! Yes, it had a few snags and yes, it ran a little too long but to sum it up, as my husband said "I enjoyed that more than I thought I would!"

The costumes were the biggest issue for me, especially the lead. Putting aside lack of 'showgirl' sparkle they were pretty ill fitting most of the time and definitely not flattering her lovely figure. I was also rankled a but about how 'offended' they were when a strip club was referenced heh.

All that aside, Jake is a gift to humanity and seeing their solo was worth the price of admission! Hugs after the show were the cherry on top!
